Slightly over 100 years ago during the Klondike gold rush of 1899 prospectors delt with some tremendous obsticles. Just getting there being one of the largest obstacles. Frist they had to get to California which could take months or years in those days. If they hadn't been killed by Indians or the hardships of that trip, they had to sell everything they owned to buy a boat ticket to Skagway. When their ship arrived they were immediately confronted with the Chilkoot Pass. A snow covered mountain trail that immediatlely rose several thousand feet from the harbor. At the top of the mountain they were met by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police who would not let anyone proceed until they had accumulated enough provisions for the winter. So back down they went. Many trips were required before they met the requirements to pass through the Yukon. Their slogan as they climbed the Pass again and again was, "if ya ain't bold, ya gets no gold". Many men and much livestock died along the trail.
Today we are faced with new laws and restrictions against mining and prospecting being thrown at us from governmental agencies and environmental groups and others. Some wonder if prospecting for gold will survive.
Prospectors have always been strong, resourceful, and determined. I doubt these modern day obsticles (unnecessary and unwarrented rules) will slow us down much. The "Bold" will continue to prospect regardless. May stealth be with you.... rf
